We've only just begun

I'm really only fooling around for now. I've set this up so that we can post stuff about the Knitters Review Gift Exchange.

Of course, until the gifts are actually exchanged, there's a limited amount of info that can be posted. I mean, we wouldn't want to spoil any surprises, would we?

I saw on your 'profile' that there is an area for 'team members'...what exactly is that and how does one become one? Is this necessary or am I okay as I am to just post away?! I a blog virgin.....

Sounds like fun. I don't know anything about blogging, but I think I just set one up for myself! Now I need to figure out what to do with it.
I guess we just use the 'comment' feature on your blog to post about the Elf exchange. I've 'met' my exchange partner, but haven't decided what to send yet.

oh, Jane, I've met my 'elf' partner and we email one another already and are getting to know each other! We sent one another a long list of goodies that we would like, but made the list long so that we will at least be surprised. Well, I've already gotten part of hers, and have sent her a fun, teasing email telling her that the 'adventure' had begun! This is going to be great fun and we will all get to know one another better, especially the 'elfin' partners, which, IMHO, is the real gift!

This blog should be a fun addition to the Gift Elf!
Had we decided on a time for our mailings or . . .?

Becka - could you give me an idea of the kinds of things that are on your lists. Don't give any surprises away of course - just wondering what kinds of things you are sending.

Jane, I know this a bit of running around; but if u email me or pm me from KR, I can give u some good specifics. In the mean time, my pal mentioned some books that she wanted for herself bc, as we know, being a mom with little ones & u go into a book store u generally buy for the kids. She told me things that she likes to knit: socks, sweaters, scarves, hats & pretty much anything & told me of some specific yarn she had her eye on. That she was interested in felting, so any yarn that would felt; she likes yarn from knitpicks & Elann. She told me of some patterns that she had been eyeballing, but wouldnt buy for herself. See, a nice long list...from that I can just go crazy & she is still going to be surprised. I then went to my favorite online shop...KnitPicks (SURPRISE, SURPRISE!!) and pretty much went thru the accessory dept and made a very long list; picked out some books; told her which yarns there that I have & other than that any yarn from there would be fine. Of course, all of these things that I mentioned can be gotten in many places, I just happened to see them all @ KnitPicks because they have a huge book & accessory selection.
Now, I've passed along some cute ideas to a couple of friends & will share them with you, but privately, thru pm or email.
I am having a ball already!! Victoria and I email one another a few times a week and are just really getting to know one another. I'm really glad that Barbara gave me someone that I didn't know, but, of course, Barbara didn't know how well we knew each other, but as it turns out, not well, now we are developing a nice friendship!

Hi everyone.
My 'elf' partner and I have 'met' and exchanged the questions and answers list Barbara suggested. The list gives you a very good perspective on each other.

This is so much fun. I already picked up a couple of things for my 'elf'. I plan to check out a few more spots for some things.

Thanks Becka,
Sounds like you are all exchanging knitting related things rather than handknit things? Is anyone making a handknit item for their elf partner?

Yes, I am making some gifts, more than one I hope, for my partner. Of course I can't say what, but I am having a blast deciding what pattern to use to knit up and WHEN to send EACH item! As I told her, I am a terrible tease and do plan on sending more than one wrapped item to put in plain site till Christmas! This will be so much fun, for me, this year.

That's a fun idea Shalee. Do you think she will be able to resist opening them! LOL My partner and I are exchanging hand knit gifts too. I always try to give as many hand made gifts as possible for Christmas, but hardly ever receive any hand made gifts - so this will be fun. Also, you always know that another knitter will appreciate the work that goes into something hand knit.

Shalee, I, too, am very much a tease!! If you don't mind, I would like to borrow your idea of sending one already wrapped package before the total package is to arrive!! HA...what a hoot!! I've not yet decided...but it is too fun!
